Air Conditioning and Ventilation
MECHANICAL VENTILATION It is a type of ventilation made with the power of a motor. Mechanical ventilation systems can also be defined as ventilation systems in which fresh air is mechanically supplied to the environment and exhaust air is mechanically absorbed. Air distribution and direction in mechanical ventilation can be done in three ways: Pressure system, vacuum system or balanced system. AIR HANDLING UNIT The Air Handling Unit is a device that ensures that the fresh air taken from the atmosphere is sent to the area after various conditionings. Within the operating principle of the air handling unit, it is possible to supply fresh air to the area, adjust the temperature and humidity, and purify the air from dust and particles. There are air handling units such as mixed air, heat recovery, fresh air, and hygienic air conditioners. The question of how the air handling unit works has a different answer for each system. However, in general, in all types of air conditioners; damper motor (fresh air and exhaust or mix) filter, heating coil, cooling coil, ventilator and extractor fan. Apart from these, different sections differ according to the purpose of use and type of switchboard. FANCOIL Fan coil system is essentially a completely watery system. Hot water and chilled water prepared in a center are distributed to fan coil units distributed inside the building. Hot water is produced in a hot water boiler, and cold water is produced in a chiller. Fancoil devices are elements that contain a fan and a serpentine as a heat transfer surface. The air, which is taken from the room with the help of a fan and heated or cooled by passing over the serpentines, is blown back into the room. If cold water passes through the serpentine, cooling is done, if hot water passes, heating is done. Returning to the center with return pipes, the water is reheated/cooled and circulated here. Circulation pumps are used for this purpose. It is especially preferred in multi-room buildings and applications where there is not enough volume to pass ducts. It is especially used in hotels, hospitals, offices and high-rise residences. Fancoil units can be placed in front of windows, inside suspended ceilings or under the ceiling and inside the flooring. Accordingly, different types of fan coils have been developed. HUMIDIFIER The steam humidifier provides reliable steam humidification to an air handling unit or air duct. It is easy to install, use and service. Steam rollers last up to three times longer than comparable models thanks to advanced water quality management. The mineral content of the water is precisely monitored and controlled. Water with a high mineral content is drained and only as much fresh water should be added as necessary. This minimizes sludge build-up and reduces the amount of energy required for hot fresh water.
HIDDEN CEILING DUCT AIR CONDITIONERS
“Types of air conditioners that provide air distribution with the help of ducts and grilles are called ducted type air conditioners. Duct type air conditioner, which is in the category of central heating and cooling system, is mounted by concealing its indoor units in the ceiling space. Therefore, it provides a pleasant appearance in spaces.
Since they have fresh air intake properties, they are preferred in places where high comfort conditions are required. As a result of a correctly designed duct type air conditioner application, only decorative blowing and suction grilles are visible in your space.”
CENTRAL AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEMS
They are systems that use air as the heat transfer fluid. HVAC equipment is centrally located. Full-air systems are audible by sending the cooled and dehumidified air into the conditioned room. And latent cooling makes heating by sending the heated air to the conditioned room. Full-air systems have the feature of filtering the air and giving fresh air.
ADVANTAGES
* Great Filtration, odor, sound, temperature, humidity control comfortably and as desired
*Electricity, drainage and pipe connections are outside and the damage area is located for maintenance
* In areas requiring exhaust, it allows fresh air intake under our control.
*If the outside air is lower than the room temperature, there is the possibility of cooling with outside air.
*Prevents dust and odor entry by creating positive pressure in the space
DISADVANTAGES
*It is difficult to balance the air in the ducts.
* It consumes a significant amount of energy in fans.
*The whole system stops when the central device fails.
AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEMS
Air Conditioning Systems are among the popular cooling systems of recent times. It is possible to operate as a normal air conditioner with Air Conditioning Systems.
AIR CONDITIONING systems are used to control the temperature, humidity and air movements of a closed compartment independently of the outside conditions.
In the design of air conditioning systems, many conditions need to be considered. There are many criteria to consider when choosing a system. These can be listed as follows:
*Comfort
* Frequency and ease of service maintenance
*Ease of operation”
